Tokyo and Beijing are negotiating a meeting between the representatives of their foreign ministries to discuss responses to North Korea’s alleged nuclear test and long-range rocket launch, local media reported Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Kong Xuanyou, China's assistant foreign minister, is expected to visit Tokyo in order to hold talks with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama, the Kyodo news agency said, citing governmental sources.

In January, Pyongyang declared that it had successfully carried out a hydrogen bomb test, triggering condemnation from the international community.

On February 7, North Korea fired a long-range rocket to allegedly put a satellite into orbit, violating UN Security Council resolutions banning it from launches that may be used for developing a ballistic missile carrying nuclear warheads.
