Moscow believes South Korea’s statements that Russia has delivered missile parts to Pyongyang are an unproven and unprofessional accusation and demands a public apology from Seoul.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia considers South Korea’s statements that Russia has delivered missile parts to Pyongyang are an unconfirmed and unprofessional accusation and claims for a public apology from Seoul, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Arms Non-Proliferation and Control said Wednesday.

“This is an irresponsible accusation and is very unprofessional, the head of intelligence service must be responsible for his words and assessment. If the South Korean side has any kind of grounds to suspect us of illegal deliveries going against UN Security Council resolutions, then this evidence needs to be provided. If there isn’t, then I would suggest thinking about how to officially disavow these insinuations and ask for forgiveness, desirably a public [apology],” Mikhail Ulyanov said.

In 2005, North Korea declared itself a nuclear power. So far, it has conducted four underground nuclear weapon tests — in 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2016, raising concerns of both the neighboring states and the international community, and prompting the UN Security Council to consider sanctions against Pyongyang.
