North Korea Claims Long-Range Rocket, Satellite Launches Successful

North Korea claimed Sunday it had successfully launched a satellite into space, the Korean Central Television announced.

TOKYO (Sputnik) – Pyongyang claimed its launch of a long-range rocket was also a success.

"On February 7… an artificial Kwangmyongsong-4 satellite was launched successfully to monitor the earth from space. This was a result of development of science and technology of North Korea," the statement said.

According to the statement, the satellite has measuring equipment.
