A homemade bomb detonated on Friday in the yard of a primary school in the Baglar district of Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir province, wounding five children, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The explosion took place shortly before students were due to go to class, according to the Cihan News Agency. The wounded were admitted to the Diyarbakir state hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Most of the population in the Diyarbakir province is Kurdish. The region has seen months of curfews after the peace process between Ankara and pro-independence Kurdish militias broke down in July 2015.

Amnesty International estimates that more than 150 civilians have been killed in clashes between government security forces and rebels in Turkey’s south and southeast.
