With a price tag of 8.5 million dollars, South Korea's main battle tank, the K2 Black Panther, was the world's most expensive tank, the website Guinnessworldrecords.com reported.

It's difficult to say whether the price is accurate but the tank's features and armaments are rather impressive, according to the website.
The tank features a 120mm 55 caliber smoothbore gun capable of 40 rounds.

It also has secondary armaments that include a 12.7mm K6 heavy machine gun with 3,200 rounds and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun with 12,000 rounds.

The tank can go at the top speed of 70 kilometers per hour and can accelerate from zero to 32 kph in just seven seconds. Its operational range is 450 kilometers. The vehicle can cross rivers as deep as 5 meters using a snorkel system, which also serves as a conning tower for the tank commander.

Additionally, the K2 is equipped with an advanced fire-control system linked to an Extremely High Frequency radar system deployed on the frontal arc of the turret, along with a traditional laser rangefinder and crosswind sensor. The system is capable of operating in a "lock-on" mode, which can acquire and track specific targets up to a range of 9.8 kilometers using a thermographic camera.

Mass production began in 2013. Initially, 680 such tanks were planned for the country's army; currently the number has been reduced to 390.
