MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "The Royal Malaysian Police have raised security alert to the highest level following a series of terror attacks in Jakarta," the statement reads.

Earlier in the day, at least 10 people were killed in a series of explosions in Jakarta carried out by several assailants in the downtown area of the city who traveled on motorcycles, carrying rifles and explosives.

According to Jakarta police, Daesh (Islamic State), which is prohibited in numerous countries, including Russia and the United States, is responsible for the attacks.
