BEIJING (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, South Korean media reported an earthquake near the North Korean nuclear facility. Later in the day, Pyongyang reported that it had tested a hydrogen bomb, which it said was a success.
"The development of the situation on the Korean Peninsula proved the importance, urgency and necessity to resume six-party talks. We are still sure that the six-party talks — are the only efficient way to settle the nuclear problem of the Korean Peninsula," Hua told reporters.
She added that China would contribute to the revival of these negotiations.
In 2003, the talks on denuclearization between the United States, Russia, China, Japan and the two Koreas started, but came to a halt in 2009, when Pyongyang left the negotiation process as its second nuclear test took place.
