MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier on Saturday, gunmen wearing army fatigues managed to enter the Pathankot air base, killing at least three Indian servicemen and injuring six others. Four assailants have reportedly been killed in a shootout with the security forces.
"We extend heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of India, and the bereaved families, and wish the wounded speedy and full recovery," the ministry said in a statement.
Pakistan pledged to partner with India as well as other countries in the region "to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism afflicting our region," it added.
The attacked air base is located on the road to the disputed Kashmir region. India and Pakistan have been in dispute over Kashmir for almost 70 years.
