TOKYO (Sputnik) – The games are now expected to cost some $15 billion due to the high cost of the anti-terrorism measures stipulated by the Japanese authorities, the Kyodo news agency said.
Tokyo is expected to take in just over $3 billion in revenue during the 2020 Olympics, something that may force the Japanese government to find ways to cut spending.
Tokyo was chosen to host the 2020 Olympics at the 125th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2013. The games are to be held from July 24 to August 9, 2020, followed by the Paralympic Games running from August 25 to September 6.
