The South Korean Navy has fired warning shots at a presumed Chinese fishing vessel that reportedly breached its maritime borders, local media reported Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A South Korean Navy patrol ship fired shots at the vessel off Baengneyeongdo Island near the Northern Limit Line, a disputed maritime border.

"The South Korean Navy said Tuesday it has fired warning shots to a Chinese fishing vessel intruding the de-facto western maritime border between the two Koreas," according to the Yonhap news service.

Preliminary information had indicated that the vessel was from North Korea.
