MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Islamabad executed on Wednesday four adult militants responsible for a deadly attack on students at a military school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar in December 2014, local media reported, citing a security source.
"Four militants involved in the attack on Army Public School were hanged this morning in Kohat prison," the source said, quoted by the Dawn newspaper.
The Taliban militant group claimed responsibility for the massacre which killed over 150 people, almost all of them children and teenagers.
Following the attack, Pakistan increased military operations against rebel groups in the country's northwest and lifted a moratorium on the death penalty, in place since 2008.
