MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the NDTV television channel, citing a police source, an airport manager received a phone call late on Monday night, warning that there could be explosions in the city’s airports and at the Taj Hotel.
The caller alleged that he had overheard a plan to detonate car-bombs at the three locations being discussed.
The channel claimed, citing sources, that the police believed the call to be a hoax, but were treating it seriously nevertheless.
In 2008, the landmark Taj Mahal Palace Hotel was taken over by Islamist militants, who also seized hostages, demanding that extremists held in Indian prisons be released. After three days, the hotel was freed by the Indian Army. The militants also targeted the luxury Oberoi hotel in the city. At least 166 people were killed during the attacks.
