MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Lt. Gen. Prawut Thavornsiri said Friday that with evidence gathered from witnesses and surveillance cameras, the suspect, who goes by several names including Adem Karadag, can be charged in court.

Prawut also confirmed local media reports alleging that the suspect had confessed to planting the bomb that killed 20 people and injured more than 100 at the Erawan Shrine on August 17.

The suspect faces up to eight charges including premeditated murder, Prawut said, as broadcasted on the Thai TV 3 channel.

The bomb blast in Erawan Shrine, a Hindu site in the Thai capital, has been described by the authorities as a terrorist attack targeting the country’s tourism industry, but no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.
