MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to NDTV channel citing a local police spokesperson, the tragedy took place near Surapalli village late on Saturday.
The deceased and the injured are identified as players of kabaddi, a contact sport that originated in Ancient India.
The team was returning back from a tournament in the neighboring Dhundigaon, the channel said.
The injured were taken to a local hospital, where they were provided with necessary medical assistance, the broadcaster reported, adding that some of them are in critical condition.
The authorities of the Indian state have pledged to grant a compensation to the families of the victims.
