New debris washed ashore believed to be the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 do not actually belong to the plane, a Malaysian official said on Sunday.

New debris found on the island of Reunion is not linked to the MH370 crash, Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, the head of Malaysia's civil aviation department told AFP.

Parts initially thought to be part of the plane's door actually belonged to a domestic ladder, according to Rahman.
