Malaysian Stealing Cash From MH370 Passenger Account Sentenced to 4 Years
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, Nur Shila's husband Basheer Ahmad Maula Sahul Hameed, acting as her accomplice, was sentenced to four years in jail and three strokes with a cane for stealing about $2,000 from a MH370 passenger's account. Nur Shila was absent during the court's hearing due to sick leave, and the judge postponed the announcement of the verdict.

Nur Shila was charged with 12 counts of illegal transfer and withdrawals of more than $20,000 from four MH370 passenger accounts. Unlike her husband, Nur Shila will not be whipped because she is a woman.

The HSBC returned the money to the account owners' families, while the embezzlers' accounts were blocked.

The Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777, with 239 passengers and crew members on board, vanished in March 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. After about an hour of travel the plane disappeared from radar, apparently crashing in the Indian Ocean. No trace of the plane has been found.
