At least 52 people are feared dead following a landslide in Badakhshan province in north-eastern Afghanistan, sources said.
According to deputy provincial governor Gul Mohammad Beidar, the natural disaster occurred in Khawhan district, located near the border with Tajikistan, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Beidar said that at least 25 women and 22 children remain missing after the landslide hit the village of Jaryo Bala in Badakhshan.
