34 journalists have been killed in the Philippines since President Benigno Aquino III came to power in mid-2010, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) said.
On Saturday, Engr. Maurito Lim, a broadcaster in the city of Tagbilaran, was fatally shot by an unknown gunman on a motorcycle as he was about to enter the office of radio station dyRD. He was rushed to the hospital, but died 40 minutes later.

Lim anchored a morning daily show "Chairman Mao On Board". He was known for his critical stance on local officials linked to drug dealers, NUJP said.
Lim was the second journalist killed in Tagbilaran and the 34th killed since Benigno Aquino III was elected president in 2010, according to NUJP.
