Singh pointed out that 2014 saw 110 terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir, the highest in recent years. He also noted that "There have been recent strikes by the terrorists that shows the desperation of terrorists."
The Army chief added that New Delhi is closely monitoring the volatile situation in Afghanistan and its impact on India.
"Spillover effect from Afghanistan due to the violent situation there is being watched carefully by us," Singh said.
India and Pakistan have been locked in a territorial dispute over the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, dating back to the end of British rule in 1947.
Central and southern areas of the region are currently controlled by India, while Kashmir's northwest is controlled by Pakistan.
In 2003, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire following border conflicts. However, both countries have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
