MOSCOW, November 5 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit China from November 9 to 11 to participate in a meeting of heads of Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member states to be held at the APEC Summit, the Kremlin said Wednesday.
"During the first day of his visit, V. Putin plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The leaders will discuss issues on bilateral cooperation, concrete international and regional issues, and will compare the two countries" stances on the main topics of the agenda for the upcoming APEC and G-20 summits. After their meetings, a number of bilateral documents are planned to be signed," the Kremlin press service said.
Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov earlier on Wednesday did not rule out a possibility of an informal meeting between Putin and his US counterpart Barack Obama within the framework of the event.
The APEC forum of 21 Pacific Rim economies seeks to facilitate economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. The 26th summit began in Beijing on November 5 and will last until November 11.
According to the forum's website, APEC's 21 members, including Australia, Russia, the United States and Japan, account for approximately 40 percent of the world's population, approximately 55 percent of global gross domestic product and about 44 percent of world trade.
