MOSCOW, November 2 (RIA Novosti) — A suicide bombing at the Pakistani-Indian border has killed 45 and injured 55 people, CNN said Sunday citing official reports.
According to CNN, the bombing occurred in Lahore, Pakistan in the middle of a parade at the Wagah border crossing. Reportedly, the suicide bomber detonated the bomb after he had got into the area where the parade was being staged.
Inspector General Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera of the Punjab police told CNN that Pakistani authorities knew about a potential terror act and had made the requisite preparations. However, since more people attended the parade than expected, Rangers, Pakistan's paramilitary security force, could not scrutinize everyone leaving the scene.
The area has been cordoned off, according to CNN.
