Usually, tweets posted by US President Donald Trump receive thousands of replies from supporters, haters and trolls. But this guy has started a whole new thing: he is responding to Trump as if they have been good ol’ friends for ages.

Josh Patten, who is a writer and an actor, known for the "Saturday Night Live" show, replies to the US president's tweets as if Trump had texted them directly to Patten, and the results are hilarious.

The comedian has adopted the persona of a vaguely interested friend or relative whose casual responses are full of polite encouragement. So far, he has offered Trump recommendations on TV series, travel tips and his support in a chummy reply saying, "Text if you need anything."

Patten described it as an "incredibly stupid project" in one of his tweets, accompanied by screenshots of some of the highlights.
