An obese pregnant woman in Changsha, Central China's Hunan Province managed to give birth to her second child on Tuesday with the help of 16 medical staff.

During her labor, 140-kilogram Lingli's (pseudonym) weight posed a major challenge to medical staff, although they were well prepared, local newspaper the Changsha Evening Daily reported.

The standard blood pressure cuff could not fit around her arms; she could not be anesthetized because the needle could not penetrate her flesh, and three nurses took turns to hold Li upright because she is too big to sit up by herself.

Li finally gave birth to a healthy 4-kilogram baby girl after the arduous work of the nurses and doctors.

Li said that she could not take care of herself while carrying her second child due to her size.

Li was transferred to the Hunan Provincial People's Hospital on Monday after she had been pregnant for 39 weeks. Experts from many disciplines, such as cardiology and respiration have made concrete plans for her as she has been diagnosed as having many diseases related to her obesity.
