The Siberian ski resort of Sheregesh is well known for its pristine landscapes, beautiful slopes and bikini slalom traditions.

Established in the early 20th century in the heart of Siberia, Sheregesh (also referred to as Gesh by the locals) was originally a mining settlement.

First ski slopes were created there only in 1981 and were used exclusively as training grounds for professional athletes.

However, in 2000s Sheregesh became increasingly popular among the ski slalom lovers, eventually becoming probably one of the most famous ski resorts in Russia.

A fantastic locale in its own right, Sheregesh also owes a considerable portion of its fame to the Grelka Fest – annual music and skiing festival held there at the first weekend of April.

One of the Grelka Fest key events is the traditional ski and snowboard descent with participants wearing nothing but swimwear.

So if you like music, skiing, nature or simply want to marvel at a crowd of scantily clad people racing down the snowy slopes despite subzero temperatures, you might want to consider taking a trip there and checking out the wonders of Sheregesh for yourself.
