MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Swedish Academy said on October 13 it awarded Dylan, 75, the literature prize "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition." However, he failed to acknowledge it up until now.
"If I accept the prize? Of course," Dylan said, as quoted by the Nobel Foundation on Friday.
It is yet unclear whether he will attend any events during the Nobel Week in Stockholm in December, the foundation added.
"The news about the Nobel Prize left me speechless … I appreciate the honor so much," the singer-songwriter said.
Dylan was born in the US city of Duluth, Minnesota. In 1961 he started performing in New York and later recorded a number of albums, such as "Bringing It All Back Home," "Blood On The Tracks," "Oh Mercy" and "Time Out Of Mind" among others.
Apart from being a world-known musician, Dylan has written several books such as Tarantula, Writings and Drawings and Chronicles.
