The tech enthusiast magazine Popular Mechanics has posted a video of a 3D Printer being completely disassembled; although the fast-motion clip lasts only a minute, the process depicted took over five hours.
The magazine's website singled out Chuck Hull, the inventor of stereolithography, who in 1989 described his machine, which used UV light and a vat of liquid to produce solid objects as "a three-dimensional printer."
"Hull founded 3D Systems to create prototypes of industrial parts. Today it also sells a line of hobbyist printers that ditch the vat of liquid in favor of materials that harden as they cool," the website said.

As for the video, it shows 'The Cube' from 3D Systems, which is already in its third generation, and which "can be recommended for kids as young as eight", according to the website.
