Census Bureau Shooter Pleaded Guilty to Murder

Subscribe
The man who shot dead a security guard outside the US Census Bureau headquarters in Maryland and wounded a police officer chasing him on Thursday pleaded guilty to a different charge - manslaughter while armed - back in 1991.

Ronald Anderson, 48, had been convicted of manslaughter, according to one court record.

Another court record states he was arrested in February in an assault case involving his "visibly afraid" girlfriend, according to court documents obtained by the Associated Press on Friday.

A drug charge related to his February arrest had been set for a dismissal hearing Friday, but that was canceled. The trial on the assault charge is set for July.

For Thursday’s activities, Anderson was charged with armed kidnapping and assault on a police officer, but expects more serious charges since the guard was killed.
