A man from Georgia stole a TV set directly from a police station to catch his favorite show.

A man from a small town in east Georgia was sentenced to 4 years on probation after he was caught with a stolen TV from a neighboring police station.

The ridiculous chain of events began when his daughter-in-law locked the only TV in the house in her room, as it was late at night and her child was sleeping. The unlucky viewer was extremely upset, as he was looking forward to watching the latest episode of his favorite TV series. With nothing else to do, he went outside for a walk and casually spotted an unguarded TV set through an open door of a police station.

Without hesitation he nabbed the "old, barely working" TV and hurried back home to catch the much anticipated episode of his favorite show. Afterwards, as he was returning the stolen TV to the police station, he was apprehended by an officer still puzzled with its mysterious disappearance.

“They say I caused property damage worth 70 lari ($32), but it was barely working, I plugged in the antenna, but it didn’t show properly, only the sound was coming through,” he explained to the local media, “I took the TV, watched it and brought it back, nothing really happened.” However, his words did not convince the court, and he was given a suspended sentence of four years.

Townsfolk described the man as a "hard-working man, who loves to spend his evenings watching TV-series."
