MOSCOW, December 11 (Sputnik) – IFC Center, a major independent cinema in New York, has decided not to ban US teenagers from watching a documentary about the former NSA contractor Edward Snowden despite age restrictions.
The documentary is based on the recordings of the first meeting between the director of the movie Laura Poitras, Snowden and other journalists in Hong Kong in June 2013.
Poitras started receiving encrypted emails from Edward Snowden at the beginning of 2013. Identifying himself as Citizen Four, he informed the filmmaker about illegal surveillance practices carried out by US intelligence agencies.
Citizenfour, a documentary about the NSA spying scandal, was premiered in the United States in October and awarded "Best Feature" by the International Documentary Association (IDA) in December.
