Palestine to Discuss Measures Against Israel Over Minister’s Death
MOSCOW, December 15 (Sputnik) — Political analyst Basam Havida told Sputnik that US representatives will likely suspend the UN Security Council vote scheduled for tomorrow in order to veto the resolution proposed by the Palestinian administration.

The US delegation would veto the proposal if the Palestinians manage to secure 9 votes, which is unlikely due to poor international cooperation. According to Havida, Israel is strongly opposed to the draft resolution, as the Jewish State’s politics are currently dominated by far-right forces, and the US will protect Israel’s interests by blocking the draft resolution.

Havida said that the Palestinians have three options: to halt all security cooperation with Israel, to launch a Third Intifada, or to appeal to the UN and other international organizations to help pressure Israel into granting certain rights to the Palestinian people.

The draft of the resolution backed by Jordan calls upon the UN to recognize an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and giving Israel a two-year deadline to withdraw from the West Bank.
