MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - Pacific Rim Air Power Symposium (PACRIM Airpower Symposium), previously known as the PACAF Director of Operations Conference, was held in Hawaii September 22-25, and discussed peacekeeping and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, US Pacific Command reported.

"PACRIM Airpower Symposium provides a platform that fosters international cooperation, strengthens partnerships, and builds understanding of our combined interests in the Pacific," said the Vice Commander of Pacific Air Forces Maj. Gen. Paul McGillicuddy, who was the host of the event, as quoted by the US Pacific Command on its official website Thursday.

The symposium was attended by military leaders from 20 Pacific region countries.

This year's symposium was dedicated to the international cooperation as a capacity and capability multiplier and was focused on discussing the improving of the international cooperation and coordination of assistance in case of humanitarian crisis, as well as "enhancing the coordination of air assets during contingencies," according to the US Pacific Command's website.

The UN Security Council's "Women, Peace, and Security" initiative was also discussed in the framework of this year's symposium. This initiative was created to address gender issues through specific Security Council Resolutions. It promotes women's participation in conflict prevention, management, and resolution, as well as post conflict relief and recovery.

As stated on the US Pacific Command's website, the symposiums proved to be successful and "aid in establishing and enhancing cultural understanding, information sharing and interoperability, and set the stage for participation by Indo-Asia-Pacific nations" and help them in coordinating training exercises, humanitarian aid and the prevention of disasters.
