Sputnik China and China Daily Launch Media Forum in Guangzhou

A Russian-Chinese forum of online media has been opened in Guangzhou, China by the Sputnik news agency and radio and China Daily website, the leading English-language Chinese online media.

The forum will last for two days and is aimed at improving information exchange between Russian and Chinese media. During the forum, delegates from 62 Russian and Chinese media outlets will discuss the mechanisms of effective long-term cooperation on the internet. The forum is held as part of the Year of the Russian Media in China and the Year of the Chinese Media in Russia.

“Sputnik news agency and radio actively cooperates with our Chinese colleagues. We are working on a series of joint projects and are exchanging experiences and information. The initiative of the Russian and Chinese presidents to hold the cross-years of Russian and Chinese media is a major boost to our efforts,” said Sputnik Deputy Editor-in-Chief Sergei Kochetkov.

Sputnik experts will take part in various themed sessions throughout the forum. Thus, the Head of Sputnik’s Chinese News Wire Vladimir Pavlov will speak about Sputnik’s role in cooperation between the Chinese and Russian media, Alexei Savitsky, Adviser to the Sputnik’s Editor-in-Chief, will deliver a report on «Experience exchange in the new media. Anton Anisimov, Head of Sputnik’s Foreign Language News Production, will moderate a discussion panel on the topic of Technology and Reforms in the Media Industry. China’s top officials and leaders of the Chinese media will also attend the forum, among them China’s Vice Premier Liu Yandong, Board Chairman and CEO of the website Xinhuanet.com Tian Shubin, CCTV.com General Manager Wang Wenbin and President of People's Daily Online Niu Yibing. The event is supported by the Russian Ministry of Communications and Mass Media.
