Rossiya Segodnya Head Highlights Need to Improve BRICS Media Cooperation
NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Vasily Pushkov suggested improving information exchange while speaking at the 2nd BRICS Media Forum which opened on October 18.

The creation of a common working space for BRICS media began in October 2015 in Russia, when the agency organized the 1st BRICS Media Forum in Moscow. Due to its efforts, Sputnik has become the largest player in the BRICS media landscape, having signed cooperation agreements with 11 leading media outlets of BRICS countries.

"We view our collaboration with Sputnik as a hugely exciting development. The global news and information flow is still overwhelmingly dominated by a handful of Western media organizations. This collaboration is another step in IANS’s on-going endeavour to correct this imbalance and help create an inclusivist mediascape which is sensitive to the aspirations of non-western societies and cultures," Shibi Alex Chandy said.

"India’s media is among the most rapidly developing and technologically advanced. We are glad that we have the opportunity to share experience with our colleagues from IANS. I’m sure that our joint work will give a boost to the development of the Russian-Indian media segment," Pushkov said.

The delegation from Sputnik news agency and radio visited India to take part in the 2nd BRICS Media Forum, held as part of the official program of India’s presidency of BRICS on October 18-19 in New Delhi. The agency hosted the first forum in October 2015 in Moscow.
