Sputnik international news agency and radio has opened a cutting edge editorial center in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

BISHKEK (Spuntik) — The opening ceremony was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. During the ceremony, Head of Sputnik Kyrgyzstan Yelena Cheremenina spoke about the editorial office’s multimedia opportunities and gave a tour of the center’s website section, radio studio, and high-tech press center. After the tour, Sergei Lavrov gave his best wishes to the Sputnik Kyrgyzstan team.

“It is very symbolic that the opening of a new editorial center coincides with the anniversary summit of the CIS. Sputnik has successfully tackled the integration objectives in the media by developing a multicultural and multipolar platform. A technologically intensive press center that can connect to almost anywhere in the world by video linkup gives Kyrgyzstan a unique opportunity to become part of the global information environment and to participate in dialogue with access to all means and tools,” Yelena Cheremenina said.

The opening of the editorial center in Bishkek also coincided with the first radio linkup between Bishkek and Moscow from the new Sputnik Kyrgyzstan radio studio. During the radio linkup, Sputnik anchors discussed the results of the 25th anniversary CIS summit which takes place on September 16th-17th in Bishkek.
