Sputnik news agency and radio has become a media partner of the annual World Football Forum, to be held on July 7-8 in Paris.

PARIS (Sputnik) — The central theme of the event is the "New Geography of Football". The partnership will provide forum participants with World Football Power Index infographics that include all 209 FIFA member countries. Sputnik will also broadcast the event from France using its news portal, radio, and Sputnik France social media platforms.

The World Football Power Index infographic was prepared by the Sputnik design center in cooperation with Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE). The material includes 11 indicators which are divided into three categories: sports achievements by national teams and clubs, football popularity, and non-sports factors for football development. The project is aimed at creating a unified model to assess football development levels in all FIFA member countries. Its results will help national football associations control and regulate their ongoing development programs. They will also enable associations to focus on the key indicators that have a positive impact on football development in the long run.

Russian statisticians from PRUE first calculated the football power index in 2015. The infographic was designed and presented by Sputnik news agency and radio design center, which visualized the data, making the information more accessible to a wider audience.

Sputnik (sputniknews.com) is a news agency and radio network with multimedia news hubs in dozens of countries. Sputnik broadcasts through its websites in over 30 languages, as well as on analogue and digital radio, mobile apps, and social media. Sputnik newswires, available by subscription, 24/7 in English, Arabic, Spanish and Chinese.
