MOSCOW, September 18 (RIA Novosti) – International Information Agency Rossiya Segodnya is launching a newswire in Arabic – RIA Novosti Arabic (وكالة الأنباء الروسية "نوفوستي"- خدمة الأخبار باللغة العربية), the first in the agency's history, on September 22.
Over 300 exclusive stories in Arabic about Russia, the CIS countries and Baltic states, as well as information gathered by the agency's reporters in the field, will be available to subscribers on the news terminal or via e-mail.
"Over 30 Rossiya Segodnya correspondents prepare exclusive stories about Russia and the events taking place in the country in an accessible and familiar to the Arab world manner every day. Our motto is "We don't translate news, we create it!" head of the Rossiya Segodnya Arabic information service Rima Mayta said Thursday.
The RIA Novosti Arabic newswire will be powered from the Moscow and Cairo news centers. The main bulk of the news, coming from reporters in various countries of the Arab world, will be prepared in Cairo. News from Russia, the CIS and other countries will be released from Moscow. Both centers work in close cooperation.
According to Mayta, there is not enough news about Russia and the world in Arabic media. Often it is simple republishing of materials taken from other news sources. The Rossiya Segodnya Arabic newswire will fill this gap as a direct provider of reliable and objective information.
The RIA Novosti Arabic news content will also include multi-faceted and in-depth coverage of important topics and events, reviews and exclusive interviews with international experts on the current state of affairs in the Arab world.
"The Rossiya Segodnya agency continues to expand its international network, creating new information services. With the launch of the Arabic newswire, more people around the world will be able to get prompt, objective and exclusive information on the most important events in Russia and the world," Deputy Director General of International Information Agency Rossiya Segodnya Dmitri Gruzdev said Thursday.
Earlier this year, Rossiya Segodnya launched three updated newswires in English and one updated newswire in Spanish for its foreign subscribers (RIAN News Service; RIAN news Service: Russia, Ukraine, the CIS and the Baltics; RIAN News Service: Russia; Servicio de Noticias Novosti). Each of the Rossiya Segodnya newswires contains exclusive information relevant to the international agenda, obtained by the agency's own correspondents.
The presentation ceremony of the Rossiya Segodnya Arabic newswire will be attended by International Information Agency Rossiya Segodnya Deputy Editor-in-Chief Dmitry Gornostaev, head of the Rossiya Segodnya Arabic information service Rima Mayta and Ambassador of the League of Arab States to the Russian Federation Jalal Al Mashta.
Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and diplomatic missions in Moscow have also been invited.
