MOSCOW, February 17 (RIA Novosti) - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is highly satisfied with the work of RIA Novosti as the host national news agency and photo pool for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, in particular its highly effective delivery of Olympic content.

IOC Press Commission Head Kevan Gosper said that RIA Novosti is doing fantastic work as the host national news agency. He said the IOC is very pleased with its partnership with RIA Novosti and highly praised the agency’s efforts to produce and deliver media content and photo information. According to him, RIA Novosti is the only agency that is capable of delivering multimedia Olympic content in such a large country as Russia.

Mr. Gosper spoke at a regular meeting of the IOC Press Commission in Sochi on Monday.

Last week, IOC President Thomas Bach visited the RIA Novosti office at the Main Media Center in Sochi’s Olympic Park. He expressed his gratitude to the RIA Novosti team for their illuminating coverage of the Games for Russian media outlets and audiences.

In September 2011, the IOC named RIA Novosti Group, which includes the R-Sport news agency, the official host national news agency and photo pool for the Sochi Olympic Winter Games. In March 2013, RIA Novosti was also named the host national news agency for the Sochi Paralympic Winter Games.

To achieve maximum breadth of coverage of the Sochi Olympic Winter Games, RIA Novosti has implemented several new projects and products, including a free Sochi 2014 Olympic Photobank, from which Russian media outlets have already downloaded tens of thousands of photographs.
