MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A series of suicide bomb attacks killed 18 people and injured 29 others in Maiduguri in Nigeria’s Islamist-infested Borno state, local media said Wednesday.
The first blast hit a prayer ground, followed immediately by three more explosions across the community, the local TVC news channel has said.
The police have reportedly restored normalcy to the area. The outlet did not say if any militant group had claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks but Nigeria has been troubled for years by Boko Haram insurgency.
Boko Haram is a militant organization infamous for numerous attacks and abductions on Nigerian soil and in neighboring African states. The group bombed a UN office in Abuja in 2011, killing 21 people.
