MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the BBC broadcaster, Gunjur residents say that people who have swum in the sea are facing health problems and dead fish have been washing up onshore since Golden Lead established its fish meal factory in the vicinity and began to pipe the waste directly into the sea.
The company is reportedly not admitting the allegations.
According to other media reports, Golden Lead reached an out-of-court settlement with the country's National Environment Agency last month, promising to remove the waste disposal pipes from the sea, to conduct an ecological assessment and to restore the damage to the environment. However, the town residents were left unsatisfied.
