"On Monday evening, a delegation of Russian experts arrives as part of ongoing work to monitor the measures taken at Egyptian airports to ensure flight safety," the source said.
According to the source, the experts will work for three days at the second terminal of the airport, which is expected to host flights to and from Moscow in the future.
"They will inspect new security measures during pre-flight checks of passengers, luggage, cargo, and airport employees in these zones, as well as procedures for access to the runway. Various security cameras will be checked," the source added.
Russia suspended flights to and from Egypt after an Airbus A321 plane flying to St. Petersburg crashed on the Sinai Peninsula soon after taking off from Sharm El-Sheikh on October 31, 2015, killing all 224 people aboard.
Following the crash, Russia suggested that Egypt should increase security measures and sign a joint Egypt-Russia aviation security protocol. Egypt undertook massive security upgrades in its airports after the incident in an effort to comply with Russian demands and resume air traffic, however, the negotiations on resuming flights between the states have stalled in recent months.
