    A total of 11 children died and 17 others were seriously injured after a bus ran into a Muslim procession in northern Nigeria because of a brake failure, according to a police spokesman.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least 11 children were killed and 17 more were injured as a bus ran into a Muslim procession in northern Nigeria because of a brake failure, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

    "A total of 11 children died in the incident while 17 others were seriously injured," Ahmed Usman said, as quoted by the Aljazirah Nigeria news website, adding that the oldest victim was 15 years old.

    He added that an angry mob had beaten the driver of the bus to death.

    According to the spokesman, the children participated in a Muslim procession in Malam Sidi village in honor of Prophet Mohammed's birthday.
