Kenyan police used tear gas and a water cannon against protesters at an anti-corruption rally in the country's capital of Nairobi, media reported on Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) The protest was in response to the recent leaked audit report alleging that $50 million meant for the Ministry of Health could not be accounted for, the BBC reported.

Earlier in the day, hundreds of protesters gathered at Freedom Corner in the capital to protest the lack of government response to corruption and the disappearance of numerous state funds.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health released a statement stating that the audit report, which was leaked to the media last week, was exaggerated and unauthorized. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the claims.
