ALAM EL KHADIM (Sputnik) – Russian and Egyptian paratroopers tried out one another’s firearms at the first joint military drills near Alexandria on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Today, Russian paratroopers made a trip to a desert for day-and-night shooting practice… After receiving instructions, Russian paratroopers fired M4 carbines used by Egyptian paratroopers," a Ministry spokesperson said.
In their turn, Egyptian military personnel tested Russian-made guns. The arsenal used in the shooting exercise included hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, machine guns, assault rifles, and pistols. Handguns and hand-held grenade launchers were tried out in the desert.
Russians flew to Egypt on Saturday for a 12-day counter-terror exercise codenamed Defenders of Friendship 2016. The live fire exercise is taking place at the Alam El Khadim shooting range.
