MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Jamal Eddin Wali, a 40-year old Algerian, was arrested in southern Italy as part of the ongoing police investigation into the bombings, the Tout sur l'Algerie online newspaper reported.

The man had been arrested under a European arrest warrant issued by Belgium, the news outlet said, adding that he is suspected of issuing fake documents used by the attackers.

Belgian police have made multiple arrests in connects with the attacks over recent days. On Thursday, several men were reportedly detained. On Saturday, Belgian police revealed that the third suspect of the bombing was among the detainees, naming him as Faycal Cheffou.

Two blasts took place in the departure hall of the Brussels Zaventem international airport on Tuesday. Another explosion took place at the Maelbeek metro station near the European Union institutions. Thirty-one people were killed and more than 300 were injured in the attacks. The responsibility for the attacks was claimed by the Islamic State terrorist group, outlawed in many countries, including Russia and the United States.
