The UN Support Mission in Libya condemned on Thursday the kidnapping of children from Libyan town of Surman, and called for their immediate release.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — "The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Martin Kobler, reiterates his strong condemnation of the kidnapping of Alshirshari children from Surman, and calls for their immediate and unconditional release," UNSMIL said in a statement.

According to Kobler, this case demonstrates the urgent need for Libyans to cooperate with the Government of National Accord "to fight lawlessness and re-establish order and the rule of law."

In December 2015, two boys and the girls were kidnapped in the western Libyan town of Surman by unknown assailants.
