MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In April 2014, the Boko Haram group attacked a school in Nigeria's northeastern Chibok village kidnapping 276 schoolgirls. Some of the girls managed to escape but about 200 still remain missing.
"If a credible leader of Boko Haram can be established and they tell us where those girls are, we are prepared to negotiate with them, without any precondition," Buhari was quoted by the BBC as saying.
The group is blamed for over 10,000 deaths over the last five years. According to the Global Terrorism Index, Boko Haram became the most deadly terrorist group in the world in 2014.
On December 27-28, the Islamist group carried out several gun and bomb attacks in northeastern Nigeria, killing and injuring dozens of civilians.
