Rwandan UN Soldier Shoots Dead Four Compatriots Before Committing Suicide

A UN peacekeeper serving in the Central African Republic has fatally shot four fellow Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) soldiers and injured eight others before committing suicide, the Rwandan Ministry of Defense announced Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A ministry spokesman said in the announcement an investigation was underway to establish the motive behind the murder and suicide.

"We suspect terrorism without ruling out mental illness to be the cause," Brigadier General Joseph Nzabamwita said.

The attack took place in the early hours on Saturday at the Rwandan headquarters of the MINUSCA mission in the CAR capital of Bangui.
