Tunisian government plans to close about 80 mosques beyond the state control for inciting violence, the country’s Prime Minister Habib Essid said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Essid said at a press briefing that a total of 12 retaliatory measures will be implemented to reinforce security in the country following the attack on a hotel near the Tunisian resort town of Sousse.

"There are mosques that continue to spread their propaganda and their venom to incite terrorism," Essid told reporters.

The attack perpetrated by a gunman disguised as a tourist claimed lives of 39 people and injured at least 40 others, according to the local Civil Defense service.
