Egypt Tears Down Ex-President's Monumental Party Headquarters
Egypt began the demolition of the historic headquarters of ex-president Hosni Mubarak's party despite concerns that the building is legally part of Egypt's cultural heritage.
Egypt's government began tearing down the massive headquarters of ousted ex-president Hosni Mubarak's National Democratic Party on Sunday, according to AFP.
The four-story headquarters and the adjacent 14-story tower were severely damaged by fire during the 2011 Egyptian uprising which toppled Mubarak. Dating back to the 1930s, the building is on Egypt's list of cultural heritage buildings.
