World Leaders Captured in Art

Subscribe
In turbulent times and strong actions, world leaders often dryly face each other at the negotiating table to address challenges facing their countries and the world. Yet ordinary people around the globe still believe there is room for both politics and art, thus paying tribute in celebrating Artist’s Day held each year in Russia on December 8.
Artist's Day is an informal professional holiday celebrated on December 8. Although it is sometimes referred to as International Artist's Day, this holiday is virtually unknown outside of Russia, where it was established in 2007.
Art of the Nations of the World, an international association founded by the Russian artist and philanthropist Nikolay Kornilov, who devoted his life to supporting the arts, initiated Artist's Day. In 1998, Kornilov founded the Art of the Peoples of the World and the NIKOR gallery. In 2007 his association established Artist's Day. The first official celebration of Artist's Day was held at the Mytishchi Art Gallery.
On the occasion of Artist's Day, museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions throughout Russia hold exhibitions, installations, performances, master classes, open-air events and many other activities where artists can show off their work and receive proper appreciation and recognition. And even if there are no events dedicated to Artist's Day nearby, you can celebrate the holiday by visiting an art gallery or museum, buying a painting or placing an order with an artist.
